Lethbridge County invites letters of interest from residents of Lethbridge County who may be interested in sitting as a member at large on the Agricultural Service Board (ASB).
The purpose of the ASB is to advise and assist Council on matters that relate to agriculture-related activities and regulatory service issues. The ASB has the responsibility of providing County administration with direction on development of directives, policies and bylaws for the Board’s consideration before being presented to Council for final consideration. The ASB will provide recommendations to Council designed to support sustainable farming practices, improve the economic welfare and prosperity of local and regional farming activities, and develop agricultural policies to meet the needs and level of service requirements of the municipality.
This seven-member board consists of four members of Council and up to three members at large, who meet twice a year. Meetings are held during the day on weekdays.
Three members are currently required to fill vacant spaces on the ASB. Appointments are for a one-year term.
Letters of Interest will be accepted until positions are filled and can be submitted by mail, e-mail, or in-person at the Lethbridge administration office:
Letters of Interest should include any relevant qualifications, including agriculture-related duties, activities or experience, such as farming (irrigated, dryland), feedlot/livestock operations, agricultural sales, etc. Applicants must be current residents of Lethbridge County.
For questions relating to the ASB, please contact Jeremy Wickson, Director of Public Operations at 403-328-5525.
