The new playground in Monarch is mostly complete! The expression swing, seal coating on the tennis court and another basketball net will be completed soon. Check out the pictures in the menu.

PROJECT UPDATE (May 17, 2022):

Work has begun on the new Monarch playground! Yesterday (May 16), crews started removing the current equipment to make room for the new structure. Check out the photo gallery.

Please do not enter the fenced construction area for your safety. Work is expected to take approximately three weeks, weather-permitting.

Along with the new equipment, the basketball court will receive new hoops. Line painting on the court and seal coating of the tennis court will be done at a later date.

Background Information:

The Monarch playground will be receiving upgrades this year, and residents of Monarch were invited to provide input on the new equipment.

Lethbridge County would like to thank everyone who provided input into the proposed playground equipment design in Monarch last month. We received valuable feedback from residents on what’s important for the new playground.

After taking into consideration these ideas, the County now has a final design for the playground. From the original design, additional equipment has been added for younger children, giving the playground elements for children of all ages. The finalized design includes:

  • Swing sets with a small seat for younger children
  • A variety of climbing equipment
  • Several slides
  • Overhead bars
  • Expressions swing
  • Merry-go-round
  • Digger and spring riders
  • Activity panels

Additional amenities to the playground include picnic tables, benches, a bike rack, and garbage cans. Equipment colours may vary from the design photos.

Along with the new equipment, the area will also see upgrades to the tennis and basketball courts with:

  • Seal coating on tennis court
  • New basketball hoops and nets
  • Painting keys on basketball court

Construction is scheduled for early this summer. Residents can visit this webpage for updates on the project timeline.
