One of the things I've noticed about living in Shaughnessy is how many kids there are running around - even at odd hours. I truly believe giving them a fun and safe place to play will help keep them from making trouble. The community is long overdue for updates and I know there is a buzz amongst the hamlet in appreciation for the proposed playground. Keep / fix the existing / add swings - the swings are the most used piece of equipment in Shaughnessy's existing playground. The Mary-go-round is an excellent idea! There used to be two Mary-go-rounds in Shaughnessy but were removed years ago for safety as they had become a bit of a hazard with their age. I know they were the highlight of going to the park so I was overjoyed to see one in the current plans.
Thank you for providing us the opportunity to share our opinions.

Wow, looks like a fabulous playground with so much to do! Wondering if there will be swings as well? Some benches and/or tables would be a nice addition as well.

The park equipment looks very good. I was hoping for a tunnel or two but what is there looks good. I hope there will be benches and perhaps a picnic table in close proximity to the play area. We use the skating area often in both winter and summer for skating and basketball, therefore are very happy that there will be improvements to that area as well. We are avid Pickleball players and enjoy playing all year round. It’s not only a great family activity but also super for seniors and is great for everyone’s fitness levels. Most of the smaller communities within the lethbridge area have incorporated Pickleball courts due to its popularity. We are extremely hopeful that we will be able to host a couple of Pickleball courts and improved skating and recreational area in Shaughnessy as soon as possible.
